Korea, Qatar to Expand Economic Cooperation to Wider Range of Fields
President Moon Jae-in on Jan. 28 held a summit with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Seoul on strengthening bilateral ties, with this year marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries. The two leaders agreed to expand economic cooperation, which has been focused on energy and construction, to a wider range of fields.
Outcome of Presidential Delegation’s Visit to Iraq
A presidential delegation, led by special presidential adviser on Iraq Han Byung-do, visited Baghdad, the Republic of Iraq, from January 28 to 30, and paid courtesy calls on Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi and President Barham Salih of Iraq.
ROK and Georgia Sign Agreement concerning Loans from Economic Development Cooperation Fund
Vice Foreign Minister Lee Tae-ho and Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Korea Otar Berdzenishvili signed the “Agreement between the Government of Korea and the Government of Georgia concerning loans from the economic development cooperation fund at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Seoul on January 31.
5th ROK-Kazakhstan Consultation on Consular Affairs Takes Place
The 5th ROK-Kazakhstan consultation on consular affairs took place in Seoul on January 30. It was co-chaired by Director-General for Overseas Koreans and Consular Affairs Woo In-shik of the ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director of the Department of Consular Services Umbetbaev of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
MOFA Spokesperson’s Statement on Japanese Foreign Minister’s Remarks on Dokdo in his Parliamentary Speech on Foreign Affairs
The government of the Republic of Korea strongly protests that in the Japanese Foreign Minister’s address on foreign affairs delivered at the Japanese Diet on Jan. 28, the Japanese government reiterated unjust claims to Dokdo, an integral part of the ROK territory. The ROK government demands an immediate withdrawal of the claims.
