On March 15, the Korean rescue team along with 50 Japanese police officers conducted search operations in the Gamo area in Sendai. Divided into three groups, the team searched for dead bodies and recovered a total of 12 corpses.

From March 16 to 18, under the guide of the Japanese police, the Korean rescue team along with the Russian, French and Taiwanese rescue teams carried out search operations in the city of Tagajo in Miyagi Prefecture, which suffered greater damage than the Gamo area. The Korean rescue team recovered three corpses on March 16.

The rescue team finished its search and rescue operations and moved to Niigata on March 19. It will standby for additional rescue operations and will continue to consult with the Japanese Foreign Ministry for future operations.
