The Fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (HLF-4)


Heads of State, Ministers from across the globe, from both developing and developed countries, heads of international organizations, parliamentarians, and representatives civil society organizations and the private sector will get together for the Fourth High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness(HLF-4) at the Bexco convention centre in Busan, Korea, from 29 November to 1 December 2011.

Approximately 2,500 delegates will review global progress in improving the impact and value for money of development aid and make new commitments to further ensure that development cooperation helps reduce poverty and supports progress in achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals.


Aims

Participants will:
  • assess global progress in improving the quality of aid against the agreed commitments
  • share global experiences in delivering the best results
  • further enhance efforts globally and within countries to make aid more effective in reducing poverty and achieving sustainable development results and
  • build a New Global Development Partnership to increase the impact of all forms of development cooperation and to work together with all development stake-holders

The Road to Busan

The Republic of Korea is sparing no efforts to ensure that the Busan Forum can contribute to the global efforts to attain the UN MDGs, promote strong and inclusive growth, and achieve sustainable development. At the HLF-4 Korea seeks 1) a new global compact on aid and development effectiveness to 'make development happen’ globally, 2) a broad and inclusive development partnership to embrace all stake-holders of and approaches to development.
