1. It was with shock and indignation that we learned from the statement by the U.S. government on 30 August that the Syrian government carried out chemical weapons attack in the Damascus suburbs on 21 August.

2. The Government of the Republic of Korea condemns such a heinous act of crime against humanity in the strongest terms, and firmly believes that those responsible for the use of chemical weapons in Syria must be held accountable.

3. The Republic of Korea, as a responsible member of the international community and a State Party to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), will continue to join international efforts to prohibit the use of, and eliminate, chemical weapons across the world. /END/
