“Korea-Africa Foundation” Formally Launched
The opening ceremony of the “Korea-Africa Foundation,” the Foreign Ministry’s fourth affiliate established to strongly support private-public exchanges with Africa, took place on June 25 in the “Community Chest of Korea” building that houses the Foundation.
Foreign Minister Meets with Commander of US Indo-Pacific Command
On June 25, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha met with Commander Philip S. Davidson of the US Indo-Pacific Command, who was on a visit to the Republic of Korea. In the meeting, the Minister exchanged views with the Commander on ways to beef up the ROK-US alliance.
Foreign Minister Meets with UAE Minister of State and CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company
Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha met with UAE Minister of State and CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company Sultan Ahmed Al-Jaber on June 27. The two Ministers noted that the relations between the ROK and the UAE were elevated to a “special strategic partnership” during President Moon Jae-in’s visit to the UAE in March.
3rd Meeting of ROK-Greece Joint Economic Committee Takes Place
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the 3rd meeting of the Republic of Korea-Greece Joint Economic Committee in Seoul on June 22, and discussed ways to increase trade and investment between the two countries and ways to further enhance cooperation.
ROK’s ODA Budget for 2019 Set at 3.4922 tln Won
According to the plan for the year 2019, the budget for ODA projects has been set at 3.4922 tln Won, up 444 bln Won from 3.482 tln Won for 2018. Forty-two agencies will conduct a combined 1,472 projects in 2019, up from 1,312 in 2018.
