1st ROK-Germany Foreign Ministerial Strategic Dialogue Takes Place
Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, together with Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas of Germany held “the first ROK-Germany foreign ministerial strategic dialogue” in Seoul on July 26. The two discussed bilateral, regional and global issues.
Outcome of Foreign Minister’s Meeting with her US Counterpart
Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha met with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo of the US in New York on July 20. In the meeting, the two top diplomats reviewed the progress in the situation on the Korean Peninsula since their latest bilateral meeting in Tokyo on July 8 and discussed possible next steps.

ROK Government Offers Record Rainfall-hit Japan $1 mln in Humanitarian Assistance
The Republic of Korea government has decided to provide $1 mln in cash in humanitarian assistance to Japan, which suffered great damage from the record rainfall in its western region in early July.
“Suncheon” and “Mt. Geumgang” Designated as New UNESCO Biosphere Reserves
“Suncheon” in the Republic of Korea and “Mt. Geumgang” in North Korea were designated as new UNESCO Biosphere Reserves on July 25 at the 30th session of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme International Co-ordinating Council underway in Palembang, Indonesia, from July 23 till 27.
