President Moon Calls Upcoming 2nd NK-US Summit ‘Turning Point’ for Korean Peninsula
President Moon Jae-in on February 11 said the second summit between North Korea and the United States scheduled for February 27-28 in Hanoi, Vietnam, will serve as “a historical turning point” in transforming the Korean Peninsula into “a land of peace and prosperity.”

Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha met with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Warsaw on February 14 and discussed ways the Republic of Korea and the United States can work together to make a success of the second US-North Korea summit to be held in two weeks.
Foreign Minister Attends the Conference on Peace and Security in the Middle East
Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha joined as a panelist the session on humanitarian and refugee challenges in the Middle East” of the conference on Peace and Security in the Middle East held in Warsaw on February 13 and 14. In the session, the Minister spoke of the Republic of Korea’s efforts to extend humanitarian contribution to the Middle East and exchanged with other participants views on issues concerning humanitarianism and refugees in the region.
Foreign Minister Meets with US Special Representative for North Korea Biegun
Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha received a courtesy call from US Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun on February 9, and was briefed on the results of the Special Representative’s visit to the DPRK. The two sides assessed the current situation, and discussed possible next steps, including plans for the second US-North Korea summit.
