The President to Make State Visits to Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan
For eight days, April 16-23, President Moon Jae-in is scheduled to make state visits to Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan - three Central Asian partners crucial for implementing Korea’s New Northern Policy. This trip by President Moon is expected to serve as an opportunity to establish a foundation for future cooperation with the three Central Asian nations by further strengthening traditional, friendly and cooperative relations and promoting understanding of Korea’s New Northern Policy in the region.
Chilean President Sebastian Pinera to Make State Visit to Korea
President Sebastian Pinera of the Republic of Chile will make a two-day state visit to Korea April 28-29. It will be his second visit to Korea since his first in March 2012. In particular, it carries significance as the first visit to Korea by a Latin American head of state since the inauguration of President Moon Jae-in.
Outcome of 3rd Joint Commission Meeting between ROK and Indonesia
Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha held the 3rd Joint Commission Meeting between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Indonesia with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Retno L.P. Marsudi in Jakarta on April 8. In the meeting, the two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on major issues between the two countries; ways to increase substantive cooperation, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
Foreign Minister Meets with Secretary-General of ASEAN Lim Jock Hoi
Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha visited the ASEAN Secretariat, located in Jakarta on April 8, during which she met and exchanged views with Secretary-General of ASEAN Lim Jock Hoi on ways to work with the ASEAN Secretariat on the Republic of Korea’s New Southern Policy and for the success of the 2019 ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit and the 1st Mekong-ROK Summit.
ROK Government Announces its Plan to Provide Humanitarian Assistance worth 3 Million USD to Address Venezuela’s Humanitarian Crisis
The government of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide humanitarian assistance worth 3 million USD to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, facing unprecedentedly serious economic difficulties, and to the Republic of Colombia, the Republic of Peru, and the Republic of Ecuador, which are shouldering the burden of accommodating a massive number of refugees and migrants from Venezuela.
