Remarks by President Moon Jae-in at Joint Press Conference Following Korea-Turkmenistan Summit
Thank you. I am truly grateful to President Berdimuhamedov and the people of Turkmenistan for warmly welcoming me and my delegation. This is my first visit to Central Asia after my inauguration. Central Asia is a region holding longstanding connections with Korea from ancient times. Among the countries in the area, Turkmenistan, which harbors resplendent Silk Road culture, became the first destination for my state visits this time, and it is very meaningful for me.
Coordinated Readout of the ROK-US Summit
President Moon Jae-in and First Lady Kim Jung-sook expressed gratitude to President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for the invitation and warm hospitality during their visit to Washington D.C. on April 10-11. President Moon and President Trump shared the same view on how to achieve the common goal of complete denuclearization and lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The President Meets with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence
The President Meets with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence President Moon Jae-in met with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence. This is their fourth meeting since they last met five months ago in Singapore. President Moon has met with Vice President Pence three times.
Foreign Minister Meets with Members of US Congressional Study Group on Korea
On April 15, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha met with members of the United States Congressional Study Group on Korea (CSGK) who are on a visit to the Republic of Korea, and exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and issues regarding the ROK-US relations, including the outcome of the ROK-US summit on April 11.
7th ROK-Russia Strategic Dialogue Takes Place
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun held the 7th Republic of Korea-Russian Federation Strategic Dialogue with First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Russia Vladimir TITOV in Moscow, Russia, on April 15, during which the two sides extensively discussed the bilateral relations, the situation on the Korean Peninsula, cooperation at the UN and on other international stages, and situations in other regions of the world and international issues.
