Results of the Republic of Korea - the Republic of Finland Summit
President Moon Jae-in and President Sauli Niinistö of Finland held one-on-one and expanded summits consecutively in Helsinki. The two presidents engaged in extensive discussions on a wide range of areas, including the development of bilateral ties, inclusive growth, the peace process on the Korean Peninsula and global cooperation. Citing increases in bilateral trade and people-to-people exchanges as well as the launch of a direct flight between Busan and Helsinki, President Moon expressed expectations for even greater increases in exchanges of people and goods. President Moon went on to say that Finland has taken the lead in promoting international peace.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Visits Serbia
Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha visited the Republic of Serbia on June 8. During the visit, Minister Kang held a meeting and a joint press conference with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, and met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Nebojša Stefanović.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary
During her visit to the Slovak Republic for the 3rd Republic of Korea-Visegrad Group (V4) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on June 7, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó. In the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue close cooperation on the search operations for those who had gone missing after the boat accident in the Danube River as well as on the accident investigation.
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Meets with his Paraguayan Counterpart
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Sei-young met with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Relations and Integration of the Republic of Paraguay Juan Ángel Delgadillo Franco, who was on a visit to the Republic of Korea on June 11. In the meeting, the two sides discussed the ROK-Paraguay relations; substantive cooperation; the current situation on the Korean Peninsula; and cooperation on the international stage.
MOFA Spokesperson’s Commentary on Armed Repression of Protesters in Sudan
The government of the Republic of Korea expresses deep concern over civilians having been killed or wounded in the lately continued shooting attacks on protesters by security forces of the Republic of the Sudan; and condemns Sudanese security forces’ armed repression of peaceful demonstrations.
