I extend my warmest welcome to President Donald Trump to the Republic of Korea. Today, the Korean Peninsula, with President Trump, has become the most-noted place on Earth. Since the armistice declaration 66 years ago, the United States and DPRK will be meeting in Panmunjeom. For the first time in history, the leaders of the United States and North Korea will be standing face to face in Panmunjeom, the symbol of division, and shake hands for peace.

The meeting among the three leaders of the Republic of Korea, the Democratic People＇s Republic Korea and the United States today has made yet more history. It is expected that the temporarily stalled DPRK-U.S. negotiations will regain momentum.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia
Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha met with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Retno L.P. Marsudi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 1. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to promote the relations between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Indonesia as well as cooperation between the ROK and ASEAN, and discussed the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Discusses Women’s Empowerment with Advisor to President of United States Ivanka Trump and Women Entrepreneurs of ROK and US
Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha, together with Advisor to the President of the United States Ivanka Trump, who is on a visit to the Republic of Korea, held an “ROK-US Women’s Empowerment Forum” at Hyatt Hotel, Seoul, on June 30 and discussed ways for women’s empowerment across the world, including developing countries.
Outcome of ROK-US Consultation Between Chief Negotiators for North Korean Nuclear Issue
On June 28, Amb. Lee Do-hoon, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, had a bilateral meeting with Mr. Stephen Biegun, Special Representative for North Korea of the United States. Amb. Lee noted the positive environment in light of the recent exchange of letters between the leaders of the US and the DPRK as well as the visit to Pyongyang by President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.
