Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with President of ITLOS
On August 19, 2019, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha met with President of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) Paik Jin-hyun, who is on a visit to the Republic of Korea for the 2019 International Conference on the Law of the Sea to take place in Seoul on August 20-21. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the upcoming 2019 International Conference on the Law of the Sea, the progress in the ROK-ITLOS cooperation, and the international law of the sea in general.

ROK Government Decides to Extend 200,000 USD in Humanitarian Assistance to Help Drought-hit Namibia
The government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) will extend humanitarian assistance of 200,000 USD to the Republic of Namibia severely affected by drought which has continued since October 2018. Declared as a state of emergency, the drought has put 500,000 people, accounting for 20% of Namibia’s total population of 2.6 million, at risk of food and water shortages.
