ROK-Hungary Foreign Ministers’ Meeting
Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó on July 27, and discussed ways to promote substantive cooperation post COVID-19 and to work together on the boat accident in Hungary. The two Ministers noted with appreciation that, even amid the difficult COVID-19 situation, the Republic of Korea and Hungary have worked closely together, including through exchanges of essential workforce, such as business people. Minister Kang welcomed the fact that the Hungarian government had started to unlimitedly permit entry from Korea into the country on July 15.

24th Meeting of ROK-China Joint Economic Committee to Take Place
The 24th meeting of the Republic of Korea-People’s Republic of China Joint Economic Committee will be held in Qingdao, China, on August 1, with Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lee Seong-ho and Assistant Minister of Commerce of China Li Chenggang leading their respective delegations.

The G20 Extraordinary Sherpa Meeting was held in a virtual format on July 24 to prepare for this year’s G20 Summit. Ambassador for International Economic Affairs Choi Kyong-lim attended the meeting as the representative of the Republic of Korea. In the Sherpa Meeting, participants took stock of the G20’s response to COVID-19 and discussed ways to restore the global economy.
