Outcome of ROK-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting
Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha had a meeting and luncheon with Mr. Wang Yi, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, on November 26, and exchanged views on matters concerning the Republic of Korea (ROK)-China relations, including cooperation on COVID-19 response, high-level exchanges including summit meeting, fostering friendly sentiments, and substantive cooperation; Korean Peninsula issues including the denuclearization; and various issues of mutual interest, including regional and global affairs. The two Ministers noted with appreciation that even amid the difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, the two countries have continued communication in various ways including the phone conversations between the leaders and the foreign ministers.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held “the 2nd International Conference on Action with Women and Peace” in a hybrid online and offline format on November 24, 2020. The Conference, part of the “Action with Women and Peace” initiative launched by the government of the Republic of Korea in 2018, was the second Conference following the first one held last year.

On November 24, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha had her first telephone conversation with the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand Nanaia Mahuta, who took office on November 6, at the latter’s request, and discussed response to COVID-19 as well as cooperation in the area of hydrogen and on the international stage, among others.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO, held “the 2020 International Conference on UNESCO World Heritage Interpretation” in a virtual format on November 24. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Lee Taeho highlighted the importance of comprehensive and inclusive heritage interpretation in helping future generations understand the full history and diverse stories surrounding heritage.
