The government of the Republic of Korea will provide US$2,000,000 in humanitarian aid to Pakistan, where massive flooding due to constant heavy rains since June caused severe damage. In the midst of fears about an impending “second disaster” of water-borne diseases in Pakistan due to water pollution, the ROK government has decided to provide US$1,700,000 in addition to the US$300,000 of humanitarian aid that has already been provided. The additional US$1,700,000 will be provided through international organizations (WFP, UNICEF) that are carrying out relief operations in Pakistan. The ROK government hopes that the humanitarian aid to Pakistan will help residents in affected areas to swiftly bring stability to their daily lives and recover from the damage.
