Kim Sung-hwan Inaugurated as 36th Foreign Minister



Kim Sung-hwan was inaugurated on October 8, 2010 as the 36th Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea. In his inaugural speech, the Foreign Minister set forth his vision and thoughts regarding Korea’s diplomatic strategies, organization management and preparations for the November G20 Seoul Summit.

Foreign Minister Kim stressed the need to pursue “total and complex diplomacy” in his inaugural speech to cope with the changing diplomatic environment where all sectors of society take part in diplomatic activity. The Minister stressed the need for “digital network diplomacy,” and said the Ministry should use social network services such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to communicate with the public

In regard to successfully hosting the November G20 Seoul Summit, Foreign Minister Kim asked for proactive participation and support by all Ministry officials.
