The Outcome of Korea-Iran Foreign Ministers' Meeting |

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Yu Myung-hwan held a meeting with the foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki of Iran in Seoul, November 13. At the invitation of Minister Yu, his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki visited Seoul after visiting Malaysia and North Korea previously.
During his visit, the two Ministers, reflecting on the ongoing development of Korea-Iran relations, agreed to enhance cooperation in political, economic and cultural areas. They emphasized the need to advance comprehensive bilateral relations, and the need to direct special attention to the expansion of international and regional cooperation with Asian countries.
The two sides agreed to promote a variety of commemorative events in light of broadcasting cultural exchange. They welcomed the various occasions broadening the Korea-Iran ties including 'The Iran's investment Seminar' which was held on October 29 and also 'The Iran's Cultural Exhibition' which was held in Seoul, November 4.
Also, both sides exchanged views on the matters of mutual interests including the North Korean issues, Korean-Peninsula situation and bilateral cooperation on the international stage. Both sides agreed to forge a stronger cooperation with the international community in the hope the nature of Iran's nuclear program be clarified. The ROK urged Iran to intensify its efforts to build international trust over its controversial uranium enrichment program. After the foreign ministers' meeting, Mr. Manouchehr Mottaki met with ROK's Prime Minister Han Seoung-soo.
