Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Yu Myung-hwan held a meeting with the Turkmenistan counterpart, Rashid Meredov, on November 5th.
The two ministers, reflecting on the ongoing development of Korea-Turkmenistan relations, agreed to take the upcoming visit by President Berdimuhammedow as an opportunity to further promote cooperation between the two nations which share complementary economic structures.
In particular, the two ministers shared hopes that the Korea-Turkmenistan summit meeting, slated to be held on November 6th, would provide momentum for the enhancement of bilateral cooperation. They pledged to work closely together to promote joint projects in a variety of fields, including energy and resources development in Turkmenistan, industrial diversification and infrastructure-building projects.
Moreover, they shared the view that the 'Agreement between the Government of the ROK and the Government of Turkmenistan on the Mutual Waiver of Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic Passports' and the 'MOU on Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the ROK and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan' which signed earlier, will contribute to bilateral cooperation.
