In order to actively participate in the efforts of the international community on the reconstruction of Afghanistan, the Korean government has decided to send equipments such as motorcycles and ambulances, and to further extend the activities of the current Medical and Vocational Training Team.
Since its inception in July 2008, the Korean Medical and Vocational Training Team in Afghanistan has successfully carried out its mission of providing necessary services to the local people within the Bagram Airbase. The Korean government plans to enlarge the existing medical team, and newly dispatch teams of vocational trainers and Taekwondo instructors. In this connection, hospitals and vocational training centers will be newly constructed within this year, thereby expanding medical services and vocational training in full scale from early next year.
The Korean government has decided to increase its assistance in order to promote its contribution to the reconstruction and stability of Afghanistan. It also aims to substantially improve the Afghan people’s living standards by rendering more medical support and vocational training.
