President Lee Myung-bak met with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the UN headquarters on September 21(local time). In the meeting, President Lee presented his thoughts on climate change, Korea’s expanded contribution to the international community and issues regarding the Korean peninsula.
President Lee also explained Korea's plan to participate in greenhouse gas reduction to help the December Copenhagen climate change conference reach a deal. The Secretary-General welcomed the idea.
And President Lee showed his willingness to expand Korea's official development assistance and peacekeeping operations activities, and expressed his appreciation for the UN chief's efforts to improve inter-Korean relations.
