Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan was paid a courtesy call by Kathleen Stephens, Jon Huntsman and John Roos, US Ambassadors to Korea, China and Japan respectively, at 11:00-11:30, October 6, during which they exchanged views on North Korea and its nuclear issues, climate change, ROK-US relations, and Korean and US cooperative ties with China and Japan.
Foreign Minister Yu elaborated on the Korean government’s policies and stance on the North Korean nuclear issue and inter-Korean relations, followed by the acknowledgment by the US Ambassadors of the Korean government’s efforts in this regard as well as recent developments in ROK-US relations.
Noting with satisfaction the latest developments in close cooperative ties among Korea, the US, China and Japan in the North Korean nuclear issue, climate change and other diverse fields, the two sides agreed to continue working closely together so that such cooperative efforts will contribute to peace and prosperity of both the region and the international community.
Held on the sidelines of the annual consultation among the US Ambassadors to Korea, China and Japan taking place in Seoul, the meeting is seen to have served as a good opportunity for the development of ROK-US relations and enhanced cooperation on the Korean-peninsula and regional issues.
