The Government of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide emergency relief supplies worth 100,000 dollars to El Salvador, where hurricane “Ida” has caused enormous loss of human life, to support its recovery efforts and join the international community in its humanitarian assistance activities.
As of November 10, hurricane “Ida” has left 144 people dead, 60 missing, and about 13,000 homeless, while flooding 1,800 houses, destroying 18 bridges, and submerging 12,000 hectares of farmland.
Concerning the losses from the recent hurricane, the Government of El Salvador has declared a state of emergency on November 9, and called on the international community to provide emergency humanitarian aid. The Korean government will provide medicines, medical supplies, and food products that the Government of El Salvador has asked for.
