Humanitarian Emergency Aid for Earthquake Victims in Chile


Regarding the earthquake in Chile, the Korean government held the second emergency response meeting on March 2 and discussed the government’s assistance measures. The meeting, presided by Vice Minister for Government Policy of the Prime Minister’s Office Park Young-june, was attended by relevant agencies, including the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, and KOICA.

Following the meeting, the Korean government decided to provide humanitarian emergency aid worth 2 million dollars.   


Emergency relief items for Chilean earthquake await shipment at Incheon International Airport (Mar.15)


Among items that the Chilean government had asked for, tents, generators and water purification tablets were sent to Chile on March 15 and arrived at Chile's Santiago airport on March 16.

The Korean government will consider additional support, if necessary, taking into account the extent of the damage and the assistance from the international community.
