o Ecuador
The Korean government decided to send US $50,000 to Ecuador additionally for its increased damages caused by recent heavy flood. Previously, US $50,000 of emergency relief fund was sent to her at the end of February for the damages from volcanic eruption and heavy rainfall. The rainfall claimed the lives of 23 people and spread the Dengues fever rapidly in the affected region.
o Madagascar
The Korean government has also decided to send US $100,000 to the government of Madagascar to help its people recover from the damages caused by two large-scale cyclones. The cyclones claimed the lives of 83 people, left 500 injured and about 200,000 people homeless in Madagascar.
o Tajikistan
The Korean government decided to send $100,000 for emergency relief to the government of Tajikistan to help the people of Tajikistan recover from the damages caused by severe cold that came in 50 years.
On behalf of the government and the people of Korea, President Lee Myung-bak sent a letter of condolences to President Rahmon of Tajikistan on February 29.
o Zambia
The Korean government also decided to send $80,000 for emergency relief to the government of Zambia for their recovery from the damages caused by heavy flood. Korea hopes that the people of Zambia overcome their grief from losses of lives along with severe damages in main crops including corn at the earliest date possible.
