During the visit, President Lee and President George W. Bush of the United States had a bilateral Summit at Camp David on April 19 President＇s Visit to Japan President of the Republic of Korea Lee Myung-bak paid an official working visit to Japan from April 20 to 21. During the visit, he had a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fukuda Yasuo on April 21 Korean Ambasssadors Meeting The Meeting of Heads of Korean Missions Overseas for 2008 was held from April 23 to 28 in Seoul. 114 ambassadors attended the Meeting, including 27 newly appointed ones. It was the first Meeting to be held under the newly launched administration of Korea led by President Lee Myung-bak and thus focused on searching for concrete measures to realize this year's three goals laid down by the Ministry ("diplomacy to improve security, revive economy and become a contributing member of the international community"), particularly seeking ways for overseas missions to play an active role in the economic boost and energy and resources diplomacy.  In these effort, on the first day of the Meeting (April 23) Prime Minister Han Seung-soo presided over a discussion over luncheon on roles of Korean overseas missions in boosting Korea's economy. President Lee Myung-bak presided over the Meeting of Heads of Overseas Missions located in resources-rich countries for discussions on overseas missions taking active roles to secure supply of energy and resources. Officials from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, and the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs attended the meetings along with representatives from civil sectors and relevant organizations.   An all day meeting with businessmen, co-hosted by the Korean International Trade Association and the Meeting of Heads of Korean Missions Overseas, was held on April 24, for the first time since the launch of the latter. At the meeting, ambassadors provided business people with valuable information through man-to-man consultations on business environment in local markets of foreign countries.
